BRILHO’s objective is to improve and increase energy access by rural families and small businesses, leveraging the private sector’s innovation and investment capacity and resulting in the market growth of improved cooking solutions; solar home systems; and mini-grids. BRILHO has four distinct components of action. These are, the Market Development Fund and Technical Assistance as financing for new businesses entering the market as well as already established and expanding companies; Demand Activation and the Awareness of the rural consumers on the benefits of modern energy solutions; Research and Dissemination to improve the availability of relevant information to private and public sector decision-makers on the supply and demand of off-grid energy in Mozambique; and, finally, a Policy Reform and Institutional Strengthening component with a view to achieving a regulatory context that inspires confidence, clarity, and incentives to the off-grid energy sector in Mozambique. GreenLight is a partner to SNV in delivering the Research and Dissemination as well as the Policy Reform and Institutional Strengthening components. BRILHO is a five-year program.
